The Greenlandic Parliament ratified a security agreement with the United States and Denmark by a vote of 16 to 7. The agreement notably provides for the strengthening of the American military presence and the creation of two new bases on the island. It also reaffirms Danish sovereignty and the right of Greenlanders to self-determination. The Danish Parliament is scheduled to vote on the agreement on November 19.
